People & Lifestyle

The residents of Boulder, Colorado mountain towns remain some of the most active in the area. With the closest entry to the peaks, many are involved with outdoor recreation in some way or another. You may have the opportunity to form a bond with fellow bikers, hikers, and explorers. 

People tend to live in these areas because of the privacy and quiet. Residents may keep to themselves, but they are also known to be extremely kind. Many are in and out of the mountains to travel or go down into surrounding cities before coming home to peaceful zen.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Everyone in town loves good food and a mountain hangout after cycling or hiking through the peaks and ridges. Some of our favorites are cozily nestled away near or in the mountains, making for an astonishing view and experience.

Located in Jamestown, Jamestown Mercantile is a rustic saloon with old west touches. The dining establishment offers hot breakfast, pub-style lunch, and dinner made with natural ingredients from around the Colorado area. Mountaineers come for the food, but they stay for the company and live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The Greenbriar is a gorgeous little tavern and restaurant in Boulder. Eat brunch or dinner surrounded by 20 acres of green gardens, flowers, ponds, and woodland right at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. You’ll find tasty American classics and award-winning wine from the cellar!

Gold Hill Inn is a log cabin with lots of personality. Plan an evening enjoying the fine dining and music tucked in the mountains 10 miles north of Boulder. The family-run restaurant is known for its seasonal three-course and six-course meals.

For shopping, you are just a short drive to downtown Boulder and the Pearl Street Mall, or downtown Lyons, and Longmont.  

Things to Do

Colorado is full of quirky and unique events year-round. One of them is Frozen Dead Guy Days, which is an annual celebration held during March in the town of Nederland, Colorado. The festival celebrates the cryopreservation of a Norwegian and Colorado legend, Bredo Morstoel. There is live music, adult beverages, wild costumes, and an array of other wacky events (like Ice Turkey Bowling and Snowy Beach Volleyball).

Eldora Ski Resort is a ski area in the southwest corner of Boulder County. It’s a great family getaway, as there is a children’s center where kids can learn how to snowboard or ski, steeps, bumps, glades, a terrain park, and more. It also has an outstanding SnowSports school to teach alpine sports to all ages.

Gold Hill Inn on July 4th Festival has an outdoor festival and BBQ for Colorado residents and visitors alike. The annual bash brings out some of the best music acts in the country. Dance to live music, enjoy a smoky barbecue, and have fun with your neighbors. Right next door to Gold Hill Inn is the Bluebird Lodge, where they host famous, highly acclaimed murder mystery nights up in the mountains. There’s always something to do!
